What makes the DUUN® a big deal? Well, obviously opting for a reusable drink holder is going to be more eco-friendly than going with a paper or plastic throwaway, but that doesn’t necessarily solve the issue of temperature. Many folks would prefer to buy their drinks fresh on the spot so they don’t have time to get warm or cold. After all, iced tea is less refreshing when it warms up (to say nothing of melting ice diluting the drink), and the cold truth about hot coffee is that it becomes less fragrant and flavorful the longer it sits – a state that reheating can worsen.

The answer: insulated drink holders.
Insulated drink holders have been around for well over a century. In a design that’s both simple and ingenious, they work by using a double wall with a space between the walls to reduce heat transfer through conduction and convection, which in turn keeps drinks hot or cold for an extended period. Basically, the space between the drink holder’s walls acts as a barrier to keep the heat from hot drinks from escaping. The process works in reverse for keeping cold drinks cold: in effect, the barrier between the walls prevents warm air from reaching the contents of the inner holder so the liquid within stays cool.
